[ɡaˈraːʒə]: Exhibition by Conny Köckritz

During a trip, Conny Köckritz discovered the striking variety of colors found on rows of garage doors typical of many urban courtyards. Fascinated by the coexistence of abstract color fields and the concrete functionality of these spaces, she began to paint them.

Over time, her focus expanded to the interiors of the garages and to the broader meaning of the garage itself. The entrance—the garage door—marks the threshold between public space and the private realm.

The exhibition [ɡaˈraːʒə] presents a selection of oil paintings portraying garages in all their diversity and symbolism: as places of calm, as signs of use and decay, and as surfaces rich with structure, color, and history. With painterly precision and a sense of urban poetry, Conny Köckritz turns her attention to these often overlooked spaces of the city.
