Art Between Center and Periphery

For many, Chemnitz feels like it lies at the edge of Germany — and this geographical and cultural “marginality” serves as the inspiration for the international art exhibition “Randlagen” in December.

The show features paintings, photographs, sculptures, and objects by acclaimed artists from Suriname, French Guiana, Réunion Island, Belarus, Ukraine and the Czech Republic, as well as works by emerging creatives from Chemnitz.

With its international guests, the exhibition brings outstanding artists to Chemnitz who are rarely seen in Germany or Europe. Several of them will be present in person at the opening reception on December 5 — a unique opportunity to meet them and engage in conversation.
The patron of the exhibition is Mr. Thomas Kütter, Mayor of the Department of Urban Development and Construction in Chemnitz.

Supporting Program

In addition to the main exhibition, concerts, workshops, readings, lectures, and guided tours for school classes will take place. Find the full program on our website: www.randlagenchemnitz.eu

Experience and Collect Art

The exhibition welcomes private visitors as well as professionals — including gallerists, museum representatives, and art collectors.
And if you are still looking for an exquisite Christmas gift, you may discover a unique artwork to take home or share with your loved ones.
