Schöner Wandel – Festival for Sustainable Building Culture

How do we want to live, build, and shape our future?

Building culture affects us all. It shapes the environment we live in – from homes and green spaces to public infrastructure. With the festival “Schöner Wandel” (“Beautiful Change”), the Zentrum für Baukultur Sachsen (ZfBK) invites everyone to explore ideas for a more sustainable and beautiful built environment.

For four days, the Garagen-Campus in Chemnitz will host a rich and diverse program, including:

• Talks
• Excursions (also suitable for families with children)
• Film screening
• Workshop for school groups
• Party
• and other open formats

This festival is open to everyone interested in sustainability, architecture, urban development, or collaborative design – whether you’re a professional or simply curious.

The final stop on a journey through Saxony

“Schöner Wandel” marks the third and final chapter of a special event series exploring building culture across Saxony:

• In May, the project launched with a symposium at the GRASSI Museum Leipzig
• In August, students and trainees came together for a summer workshop at the Naturbau-Campus Oschatz
• Now, the festival in Chemnitz brings together the ideas, themes, and people from across the region
