100 Years of Mikis Theodorakis – Special Edition of the POESIE EUROPAS Song Festival
The Chemnitz-based trio QUIJOTE invites audiences for the fourth time to the POESIE EUROPAS Song Festival in 2025.
In the European Capital of Culture year 2025, the festival will pay tribute to one of Europe’s most important composers: Mikis Theodorakis, who would have turned 100 this year. His music – a symbol of freedom, justice, and cultural bridges – will be at the heart of an extraordinary concert evening.

The Festival Program: A Musical Homage
For 25 years, the musicians of Trio QUIJOTE – Sabine Kühnrich, Ludwig Streng, and Wolfram Hennig-Ruitz – have been deeply engaged with the life and work of Mikis Theodorakis. Through various concert programs and CDs, they have reinterpreted his songs in the German language – many of them in their own adaptations.
For the 2025 festival, they have invited international guests to create a multilingual, touching, and compelling program:
