Dancing Neighbours – Open Dance Class

August 5 , 17:00 19:00

Dance connects: The project “Dancing Neighbours” brings together people of different generations and backgrounds through movement. Initiated as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, the program combines contemporary and urban dance with improvisation, creating spaces for encounter, exchange and shared experiences.

The Garagen-Campus provides the space for this program and is pleased to host the regular sessions. The content and facilitation are managed by the responsible project partners.

At its core is non-verbal dialogue through movement: dancing together becomes a form of expression for creativity, energy and intercultural exchange. The program is intentionally open to everyone – regardless of age or prior experience. You can join at any time.

The project has been supported by internationally renowned dancer and choreographer Yoko Ando, known for her work with the Forsythe Company and for developing intergenerational dance formats for many years.

Following a successful Capital of Culture year, the project continues in 2026: alongside performances at festivals and events, a new open dance class is now offered at the Garagen-Campus.
